What is franchising?
Franchising is essentially a business relationship between yourself and a franchisor. You will build and operate your own business while benefitting from an established brand. Although each franchise varies, you should receive support from your franchisor throughout the process and not feel like you are starting from scratch.

Here we briefly outline 5 key steps to becoming a franchise owner operator…
1. Discover the industry for you
There are many franchises out there and it’s up to you to discover the industry that would best suit you. It’s a common myth that you need previous experience as this is not always the case. So, make sure you select something that you can see yourself enjoying as any business requires a certain level of motivation and drive. If you are also able to inject passion, you will be well on the road to success!
2. Do your research
Each franchisor will offer a slightly different package. It’s important to see exactly what they are offering and how much support they will give throughout the process. You also want to know what you will receive physically for the money. For example, a cleaning franchise that doesn’t include all the cleaning products will increase your start-up costs. (This might be a slightly extreme example but, you get the idea).
3. Get in touch
Speak to the franchisor and get as much information as you can. Browse through any guides and documents that they offer and make sure you take advantage of speaking to the team. They will be able to answer any questions you may have.
4. Complete your training
So, you’ve made your decision and it’s time to start the training process. This is a great time to learn as much as possible about the business and use all the resources you can to get your new venture off to the best start.
5. Time to get started!
Now you have all the knowledge and tools you need to get started. It’s best to hit the ground running and not wait around. Build your customer base, work on your marketing, and set yourself targets.
